📍 Location & Trail Information
The Sand Beach is located along the Ocean Drive section of Acadia National Park, on the east side of Mount Desert Island. It is the largest sandy beach in the park, a small crescent of shell-rich sand tucked into the rocky Maine coast. Granite cliffs rise on either side of the cove, and the Atlantic rolls in with waves that change the look of the shoreline from hour to hour. Tide pools and boulders along the water’s edge make good foreground subjects, while the headlands frame the beach and add depth to wider compositions. The clear night skies here also make it a favorite place for stars over the water. If you are already exploring this part of Acadia National Park, this location is well worth a stop.
