Meet our Ambassador, Gary Wagner, owner of Gary Wagner Photography:
Gary Wagner is a fine-art landscape photographer based in Southern Oregon who works exclusively in black and white. Born in Chicago, he developed his passion for photography while attending high school in Indiana. He went on to study photography at Indiana University Bloomington and Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara, California.
Wagner’s passion for national parks began with a visit to Yosemite National Park in 1972. Since then, he has photographed more than half of America’s 63 national parks, as well as dramatic landscapes and seascapes throughout the United States and internationally.
His photography explores the shapes, lines, textures, light, and tonal relationships that define the natural world. By working exclusively in black and white, he seeks to reveal the essential character of a landscape without the distraction of color.
Wagner is the author of Digital Black and White Landscape Photography: Fine Art Techniques from Camera to Print and iPhone Photography for Everybody: Black and White Landscape Techniques, both published by Amherst Media. He has also produced several fine-art photography books featuring national parks and wilderness landscapes.
His photographs have been exhibited internationally and recognized through numerous awards and publications. His honors include Best of Show awards at the California State Fair Fine Art Show and the Sacramento Fine Art Center, along with recognition in photography competitions and fine-art magazines.
Through every image, Wagner hopes to inspire a deeper appreciation for the beauty, permanence, and wonder of the natural world.
Gary’s favorite quote is:
“You don’t take a photograph, you make it.”
Ansel Adams
